2024 Catholic Charities of Acadiana Ornament – St. Clare of Assisi
“O blessed poverty, who bestows eternal riches on those who love and embrace her!”Â
-St. Clare of Assisi
Our 2024 Catholic Charities of Acadiana ornament honors St. Clare of Assisi, a 12th century woman born into nobility who gave her life to Jesus through a vow of poverty, chastity and obedience. She was drawn in by St. Francis of Assisi’s teachings and way of life, and later went on to found the Poor Clare order. She lived her life as a cloistered nun, dedicated to praying for the community, the church and the world.Â
This ornament celebrates a spirit of service and love by honoring the works of mercy. Our Lord wears a crown of thorns for each of us, and each of the poorest that we serve on a daily basis. Add this beautiful piece to your holiday decor, and display the power of charity and love.
