Our Lady of Good Counsel Prayer Card | Pink
This is a favorite Marian image and title of the Blessed Mother of many of the faithful and has been honored by many popes in the Church. The original fresco of Our Lady of Good Counsel originated in Genazzano, Italy. The image is said to have miraculously appeared when a wall of the church crumbled in the 15th century. During this time many pilgrims venerated the image asking the Blessed Mother’s intercession and reported many miracles and healings, as the word spread throughout Italy. The title Our Lady of Good Counsel was added to the Litany of Loreto in 1903 by Pope Leo XIII.
This watercolor of the original image shows the Blessed Mother and the baby Jesus in a close embrace with his hand resting trustingly on her heart expressing his devotion and love for her.
